The 2016 Lubovitch Winter Workshop will take place from December 28, 2016 – January 12, 2017. Students may attend all or part of the workshop, which will take place at Adelphi University.
The school is located in Garden City, Long Island, NY, and it is easily accessible by train, both from New York City, and from elsewhere on Long Island. Enrollment is open to all but is tailored to best suit advanced students and professional-level dancers. Each day will start with training in Modern or Ballet Technique, after which participants will be taught and coached on sections of repertory by the award-winning (see story below) Lar Lubovitch. Classes will be taught by the company's rehearsal directors, master teachers and dancers. In addition, the workshop will include weekly lectures and specialty classes. Because of the intensive’s strong emphasis on individual attention, space is limited.

The 2016 Lubovitch Winter Intensive is supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Since 1954, the Dance Magazine Awards have celebrated dance artists who have made outstanding contributions to the field of dance. This year, the magazine has announced that it will present one of the four 2016 Awards to Lar Lubovitch in recognition of his immense contribution to dance. The magazine will also honor New York City Ballet principal Tiler Peck, modern dancer and advocate Carolyn Adams, and dance historian Lynn Garafola. The December issue of the magazine contains articles about the incredible impact that each honoree has made.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on December 12 at New York Live Arts. Expect special performances, celebrity guests and heartfelt speeches. Janet Eilber (artistic director of the Martha Graham Dance Company) will present the award to Lubovitch. To mark the occasion, the Lubovitch company will present a brief excerpt of a new work in progress.
